Papular Urticaria

What is Papular Urticaria

Almost exclusively in children, this is a widespread reaction to insect bites such as fleas, bedbugs, chiggers, or gnats, and may persist for long periods. The tendency will fade with onset of adolescence. Papular urticaria is a common and often annoying disorder manifested by chronic or recurrent papules caused by a hypersensitivity reaction to the bites of mosquitoes, fleas, bedbugs, and other insects. Papular Urticaria is usually itching (pruritus), followed by the appearance of small or large wheals. In some cases, swelling of the soft tissues of the face, neck, and hands (angioedema) may also occur.
