Herpes Simplex

What is Herpes Simplex

Herpes Simplex viruses (HS-1, HS-2, Herpesvirus hominis) produce a variety of infections involving the central nervous system and visceral organs. Infection with HSV-1 is accuired more frequently and earlier than infection with HSV-2. erpes infections are very common. It is estimated that nine out of ten people have been exposed to herpes. It can occur throughout the year. The incubation period ranges from 1 to 26 days. Herpes Simplex is more prevalent in the temperate climate and the cold season. Characteristic of Herpes Simplex of penis is Red, sharply marginated, grouped vesicles usually become crusted sores within 48 hours.

Treatment of Herpes Simplex

Both clinal and laboratory criteria are useful for establishing the diagnosis of Herpes Simplex virus infections. It can be best confirmed in the laboratory by isolation of virus culture. Acyclovir is the most frequent used agent for th etreatment of herpes simpl;ex virus infections. Some authorities recommend using L-Lysine 500 mg, an amino acid, found in the vitamin section at the drugstore. As soon as you feel burning or tingling in the area, take 3-4 tablets a day for the first 2 days and then 2 tablets a day until the blisters dry up.
