It represents a large portion of occupation-associated skin disease. Hand Eczema may be associated with other cutaneous disorders such as atopic dermatitis. SImilar to other form of dermatitis, both exogenous and endogenous factors play improtant roles in the expression of Hand Eczema/ dermatitis. What causes Hand EczemaChronic, excessive exposure to water and detergents may initiate or aggravate this disorder. Often the dermatitis will bwgin under the rings where water and irritants are trapped. Hand Eczema sign and symptomsHand Eczema is present with dryness and cracking of the skin of the hands as well as with variable amounts of erythema and edema. The evaluation of a patient with Hand Eczema should include an assesment of potential occupation associated exposures. Treatment and Cure of Hand EczemaTherapy of Hand Eczema / dermatitis is directed towards avaoidance of irritants, identification of possible contact allergens, treatment of coexistent infection, and application of topical glucocorticoids. When possible hands should be protected by gloves. Hand Eczema patients can be treated with cool moist compresses to dry and debride acute inflammatory lesions and topical cream. |
