Asteatotic EczemaWhat is Asteatotic EczemaAsteatotic Eczema is also known as xerotic eczema or winter itch. It is a mildy inflammatory varient of dermatitis that develops most commonly on the lower legs of elderly individuals during dry times of year. Fine cracks, with or without erythema, characteristically develop on the anterior surface of the lower extremities. Pruritus is variable. Asteatotic Eczema responds well to avoidance of irritants, rehydration of the skin, and applicationof topical emollients. |
