Sensitive skin is usually quite fine in texture with a tendency to be rosier than usual. Easily irritated by products and external factors, it is alos prone ro redness and allergy and may have fine broken veins across the cheeks and nose. To provide the best sensitive skin care, you need to maintain skin's natural moisture. Skin that is reactive to products, sun and heat benefits form gentle ingredients like aloe vera, citric and lactic acid. There are varing levels of sensitivity. If you feel you cannot use any products on your skin without irritating it, cleanse with whole milk and moisturize with a solution of glycerin and rosewater. These should soothe it.

Caring for Sensitive Skin

Your skin needs extra-gental prosucts to keep it healthy. Choose from hypoallergenic ranges that are specially formulated to protect sensitive skin. Do not forget to choose an unperfumed moisturizer.

If you have particularly sensative skin, try using an evening primrose oil moiturizer.   • Use almond or jojoba oil to cleanse your face.
  • Comfrey steeped in water can make a good toner.
  • Pay attention to detergents used to launder your sheets, pillowcases, towel, and lingerie. Fragrance-free detergents can help prevent sensitivity.
  • Make a facial exfoliate by mixing grapefruit with oatmeal.
  • Make a face mask out of fruit.
  • Cucumber and yoghurt also makes a good face mask for sensitive skin.
  • Licorice is a good product for sensitive skin. Look for skin care products that contain licorice.
  • Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help prevent sensitive skin reactions.
  • Aloe Vera can soothe skin that is red, irritated and blotchy.
