Cellulite

Experts differ about what exactly causes cellulite. It seems likely that it is an accumulation of fat, fluid and toxins trapped into the hardened network of elastin and collagen fibres in the deeper levels of the skin. This causes the dimpled effect and feel of the cellulite areas. There is no miracle cure for cellulite, but there are some effective and practical things you can do to see the great results. There are dozens of products around designed to deal with cellulite, but to realy tackle the problem you should follow a three-pronged approach, combining -

  • Circulation boosting tactics
  • Diet
  • Exercise

Causes of Cellulite

Cellulite can be caused or aggravated by the following:

  • hereditary factors - if your mother has cellulite, it is fair bet you will have too.
  • hormones such as the contraceptive pill
  • a poor diet full of toxins and puts teh body under great strain to get rid of vast quantities of water.
  • stress and lack of excercise make your body sluggish and can slow down blood circulation.

How to make your own cellulite cream

Some women swear by aromatherapy to treat their cellulite. There are many ready-blended oils on the market, but you can make your own. Just add two drops each of rosemary and fennel essential oils to three teaspoons of carrier oil, such as almond oil. Massage this mixure daily throughly into the affected areas.

Follow a detox diet to beat cellulite

To detoxify your body you need to follow a healthy low-fat, hight-fibre diet - one that contain plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Eat at least five servings of fresh fruit and vegetables

Cut down on the amount of fat you eat. For instance, grill rather than fry foods.

Water cleanses your system and flushes toxins from body cells, so drink at least two litres of pure water every day.
